Therapy works best when the fit is right, especially for this depth work. This page is my honest attempt to help you figure out if that might be us. You deserve to find exactly the right person for you, whether that's me or someone else.
We might be a great fit if…
You're likely in your mid-30s, middle-aged, or beyond, and you've done enough living to know that something needs to change.
You value human rights and racial and social justice, and you understand that the personal and political are deeply intertwined.
You believe that doing your own inner work matters. Not just for you, but for the people around you and the world you want to live in.
You're navigating circumstances that are genuinely hard, not just historically, but right now. And you're ready to build more groundedness and capacity from the inside out, even if the outside hasn't changed yet. You're someone who spends your days holding space for others, whether as a therapist, caregiver, teacher, or helper of any kind, and you're ready to have someone hold space for you.
You've been to therapy before, or have some experience with mindfulness, somatic work, or another body-based practice. Not required, but helpful.
You're introspective, curious, and ready for a deeply collaborative process.
You're done with surface-level coping and ready to address things at the root.
You can commit to weekly sessions, financially and time-wise. Consistency is integral to the changes you want.
You're not offended by profanity, and can appreciate that a well-timed expletive can be the fucking best.
You live in Michigan or can be physically present in Michigan at the time of sessions.
We probably won’t work well together if…
All you want to do is talk about your problems without being willing to go deeper. It's completely okay -- and honestly pretty common -- to feel scared of getting in touch with your body. We'll always go at your pace. But if you have no interest in trying or aren't open to it, I'm probably not your person.
You're currently experiencing thoughts of hurting yourself or someone else. In that case, working with someone who can meet you in person is typically the safer choice.
You're engaged in heavy substance use that isn't being addressed elsewhere.
You're looking for a quick fix. This work takes time and it asks something real of you. My philosophy is that healing involves building the capacity to hold pain rather than escape it.
You don't live in Michigan or can't be in the state at the time of sessions. I'm currently only legally licensed to practice therapy in Michigan.
You want a highly structured, protocol-based approach. My work is fluid, collaborative, and deeply individualized.
You're into spiritual bypassing: "everything happens for a reason" isn't a framework I work from.
You need early morning appointments. I don't offer sessions before 2-3pm.
You have consistent difficulty being on time.
If we're probably not a good fit, you're always welcome to ask me for referrals. I'm happy to help you find the right person.
